A DOZEN QUESTIONS - 12 OF 12 (?) - SPECIAL GUEST: KATHY CLUGSTON

A DOZEN QUESTIONS
(12 of 12 Posts…… but due to amazing response,
there will be more than 12!)

The Pivot Questionnaire comprises 10 questions. I have seen it used on the television show Inside The Actor's Studio, presented by James Lipton. Apparently Proust was the original inspiration. The modern questions originated on a French TV show called Bouillon de Culture, hosted by Bernard Pivot. I have expanded the questions to 12.

(For the time being, this idea is restricted to Northern Ireland's creative artists in any field, literature, music, broadcasting, etc. If you are one and are interested in taking part as well as promoting your work, please get in touch via joecushnan@aol.com)

This post’s special guest is Kathy Clugston who comes from Belfast and is a freelance radio presenter. She is often heard as a newsreader/announcer on BBC Radio 4 but also pops up on Radio 4 Extra, World Service and Radio Ulster, where she takes part in A Perforated Ulster with the Hole in the Wall Gang.

She has written a book called ‘A Brief History of Tim’ and a musical about Radio 4 which was performed in 2014. She lives in London. For me, Kathy has one of the warmest, most calming and friendly voices on radio. One quotation on her website describes the voice as "gloriously succulent".

KATHY CLUGSTON'S DOZEN ANSWERS

1. What is your favourite word? Globule

2. What is your least favourite word? Gobbet

3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Musicals, in all ways

4. What turns you off? Bad grammar

5. What is your favourite song? Feelin’ Good

6. What is your favourite film? All About Eve

7. What is your favourite curse word? Fuck. Simple but effective

8. What sound or noise do you love? The gentle burble of Radio 4; a cat purring

9. What sound or noise do you hate? Sweets being slowly unwrapped at the theatre

10. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I'd like to play the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. I was born for that role. Apart from that, I have a secret yen to run a business, but sadly no business knowledge whatsoever.

11. What profession would you not like to do? Fishmonger

12. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? "Cluggers! Wrong again! There are a few people here waiting to see you. Oh, and Bette Davis has organised a little drinks reception at six. "

Kathy Clugston, thank you for your dozen answers to a dozen questions.
