She spent ages painting
The plate and bowl,
Evening class, art college.
Glazed, pretty.
It was her present to us,
House-warming gift,
Floral ornaments for
Special occasions.
We used them at a party,
Crisps, hors d'oeuvres,
Talking point,
Many compliments.
Next morning,
Emptying the dishwasher,
Strange white plate and bowl.
Art deleted. Oh shit.
