WEE TOMATO BAG

From my book "Jack Elam, I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life", about my love of westerns........

WEE TOMATO BAG
“There’s a little cowboy in all of us, a little frontier.” Louis L’Amour

My mother,
Forever wise in the ways of the world,
Knowledgeable, sensible,
Always to be trusted,
Would tell this young son
That when a cowboy was wounded,
It wasn’t real blood,
It was just that his “wee tomato bag”
Got busted.

JELLY JUGGLING JOE

From my forthcoming book "Juggling Jelly - Poems For Kids Of All Ages"..........

Jelly Juggling Joe
Put on a jelly juggling show
To show his many skills
At jelly juggling.

But not long through his act,
It was a plain and simple fact,
That he was rubbish
And soon was badly struggling.

The audience was aghast
Started a booing, jeering blast,
As this jelly juggling fool
Just turned them cold.

He left the stage a-hobbling,
Showbiz career a-wobbling.
So bad a turn,
He really broke the mould.
